💦 CHAD: The rains began earlier than usual and were the heaviest in decades. It resulted in exceptionally devastating floods.
MORE THAN 460,000 HECTARES OF FIELDS WERE FLOODED
AND 19,000 CATTLE.
More than a million people were affected by the latest flooding. A state of emergency was declared in the first half of October.
🌊 SUDAN: The situation at the end of the rainy season was extremely difficult.
SOME 25,000 HOMES DESTROYED AND 48,000 DAMAGED
Large-scale flooding is displacing more and more people.
Nearly 350,000 people have been affected.
💦 SOUTH SUDAN: Two-thirds of the country is under water after record rains. People are working around the clock to hold back the water and prevent dams from collapsing.
OVER 900,000 PEOPLE WERE AFFECTED
The UN refugee agency says flood victims in South Sudan are in desperate need of international support.
🌊 NIGERIA: Some 2.5 million citizens are in need of humanitarian aid because of the "worst floods in a decade"
The climate is already causing irreparable damage to the economies of many countries. According to the report On the Future of Mankind, this trend will increase, reaching planetary proportions in the coming years.
